Holidays in Fiji with FijiBure.com
Hundreds of travellers
are now discovering the unique experience of living in a village with the
locals. The exotic palm trees, simple living, kava ceremonies and Fiji time
are something no other holiday can ever match. This is the ultimate getaway.
This brand new concept in travel is now spreading across the world today. Village homestays has spawned through the Internet and is now becoming a popular option for guests who want to experience real culture in a village setting.
It all started in the small Fijian village of Namuamua in 2002 when webmaster Scott Balson went there on an organized day tour during his holidays in Fiji. He met with the village chief, struck up a friendship and they started writing to each other. The next year, by invitation, Scott spent a few days at the village and on his last night the chief asked Scott if he could help bring more guests to his village.
Village Homestays was born in March 2003 and today encompasses village homestays around the world. From small belongings with just a handful of guests a year enjoying holidays in Fiji at a village to 2008 with several hundred guests enjoying Fiji holidays across thirteen villages the pilot programme has been a phenomenal success.
One of the major milestones in its development was the excellent coverage given by Channel 10s television programme "Getaway" broadcast across Australia at prime time.
Today village homestays is listed in Lonely Planet, has ties with Intrepid Travel and is now expanding into Africa, South America and across Asia. One of the fundamental building platforms of the project has been the purchasing of key domain names with all key continents and the word "homestays" now being owned by the project.
Our travel option is not for unruly backpackers seeking party destinations.
